Dr Andy Raffles

Senior Paediatrician

Dr Andy Raffles is a Consultant Paediatrician - (Child Health Specialist)  who worked in the NHS  in Hertfordshire as a children’s specialist for over 30 years. After retirement form the NHS he joined and is now the senior lead paediatrician in Dr Ian Hay Ltd, where he helps deliver a range of services to children and families with a large number of specialist colleagues, including in the field of child development.

He has over 33 years’ experience as a consultant in the field of children's illnesses, and a particular interest in the needs of younger children with a wide range of disorders in childhood.

His work has always  been holistic, and he has much experience in caring for the children with special needs and disabilities child, having worked closely with  local authority departments of Education and Social Services.

He has written extensively for  medical journals, and for mother and baby  magazines, as well as contributing to several books on mother and baby care. He has also had a radio series - called Nappy Hour, some time ago.

In recent years he has been very involved in the health care of older children, teenagers and young adults with long term conditions and is particularly aware of the psychological needs of Children and Young People as we emerge from the pandemic years.
