Dr Daniel Crespi has been a Consultant Paediatric Gastroenterologist since 2011 when he joined The Centre for Paediatric Gastroenterology at the Royal Free Hospital in London.
Dan sees infants, children, and teenagers up to 18 with a variety of gastrointestinal (GI) problems and conditions. His clinical interests are in paediatric inflammatory bowel disease and GI motility disorders including constipation, gastro-oesophageal reflux disease and vomiting. He sees patients with food allergy, food related conditions including coeliac disease, eosinophilic oesophagitis and intolerances as well as functional gastrointestinal disorders including irritable bowel syndrome (IBS), other chronic abdominal pain problems as well as rumination syndrome.
Dan uses a holistic approach, always considering the broad range of factors involved when a child is being investigated for and (potentially) diagnosed with a long-term gastrointestinal condition.
He qualified in Medicine from King's College London in 2001 along with a First in a Bachelor of Science (BSc) degree in Pharmacology, winning prizes along the way.
After graduating from medical school, he trained in General Paediatrics, and he went on to specialise in Paediatric Gastroenterology having worked at several centres of excellence in London and Southampton.
Dan is a Fellow of the Royal College of Paediatrics and Child Health, and a member of several organisations including the British Society of Gastroenterology, the British Society of Paediatric Gastroenterology, Hepatology and Nutrition (BSPGHAN), The Association for Child and Adolescent Mental Health and The Association for the Study of Medical Education (ASME). He is an active member of the GI Motility Working Group of BSPGHAN.
Through his work in the Paediatric Inflammatory Bowel Disease Clinic at the Royal Free, he is involved in clinical research, and is also always looking to develop the paediatric gastroenterology and paediatric endoscopy services, using innovative solutions to improve the quality of care provided to children in the region.
