Dr Frankie Sturridge is a GP, dedicated to improving wellbeing and vitality and a has a lifelong fascination with complementary and traditional medicine.
She graduated from The Middlesex and University College Hospital Medical School with distinction in Obstetrics and Gynaecology in 1988. and initially worked as an Obstetrician and Gynaecologist in London teaching hospitals for 10 years including Queen Charlotte’s & Chelsea Hospital for women, UCH and St Bartholomew’s and held an academic research job lecturing and teaching about women’s health and menopause at UCL for 3 years with Professor John Guillebaud.
She then re-trained as a GP in 1998 as she developed a mild but progressive muscular dystrophy and has worked in North London and Hertfordshire in the NHS and as Lead Clinician at an independent private hospital for over 10 years specialising in family medicine and women’s health.
She is a member of The Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists a member of the Royal College of General Practitioners and has been a GP Tutor and GP Appraiser for NHS England since 2007.
In 2016-2019 she completed a master’s degree at Cambridge in Genomic Medicine and extended her studies into Neuroscience, Neuroplasticity and Trauma informed Life-Coaching to have time to care for and the skills to create a personalised recovery journey for her 23-year-old daughter who suffered a life-changing traumatic brain injury. Her master’s dissertation investigated the genetics of neonatal deafness caused by antibiotic toxicity. Today this test is available in neonatal units across the NHS and prevents at least 180 cases of lifelong deafness in premature babies per year in the UK.
She is a qualified Reiki and Western Medical Acupuncture Practitioner, a Certified Life Coach with One of Many and has done Voice Dialogue Training with Annie Stoker. She is currently a student of Susie’s Heath’s Leadership Embodiment Coaching Academy. As a life coach she has a particular interest in somatic expression of trauma, and coaches’ clients who have diagnosed and undiagnosed neurodivergence, and complex chronic health conditions or medically unexplained symptoms.
During COVID in 2020 in partnership with several professional dance teachers, she opened an inclusive dance studio “AV Dance Magic” in North London offering dance movement therapy for clients with neurological and developmental conditions as well as social and professional classes. They won a Royal Free Hospital “Oscar” Award for providing on site dance classes for the covid vaccine clinic staff during the pandemic.
She is a trustee of The London Horseplay Centre that offers equine behavioural therapy to adults and children and speaks English, French and enough Russian to get by and surprise patients.
Her latest venture is “decode-your-genes.com” a simple non-invasive cheek swab test and interpretation service, to look at personal functional genomics results and apply this knowledge to optimise health and wellbeing and help predict and prevent future health problems.
She always wants to learn more and works to keep her husband and menagerie of children, dogs, and hens in the manner to which they are accustomed and avoid cooking and cleaning at all costs.
