Dr Ian Hay Ltd was established in 2004 by the eminent Professor Dr Ian Hay, a well known paediatrician from South Africa.
Dr Ian Hay Ltd was established in 2004 by the eminent Professor Dr Ian Hay, a well known paediatrician from South Africa. Initially Dr Hay worked in Hertfordshire and then established a practice in the Portland Hospital, London’s only private hospital dedicated to Women and Children
Dr Raffles joined him in 2004 and took over the practice on Dr Hay’s retirement in 2016 Over the last 21 years the practice has grown and there are now 9 associate paediatricians and a nurse consultant. Our service to children , young people and their families is available at Centennial Medical Centre, Elstree, and at the Portland hospital London
Our aim is to offer a holistic child and family friendly service catering for the health, social and educational health needs of children, from newborn babies to 16 year old young people. We can offer continued follow up to the age of 18 years for young people who were under our care from before age 16years.
We offer a general paediatric health service for the whole range of childhood and adolescent health care needs, and this includes assessments for non medical issues, including developmental , educational and psychological issues. Over the years we have developed a wide network of experts we can call on the assist in the diagnosis and management of the entire range of child and adolescent health care needs.
Within the practice we have a range of general specialist paediatricians, and also we have a service to children and families seeking advice and diagnosis in relation to Neurodiverse conditions, such as Attention deficit disorders, Autistic and neuroatypicality disorders, Tics and mannerisms and the range of medical and psychological health issues affecting access to and performance in education.. This service is served by 3 consultant paediatricians and a nurse consultant – based primarily at Centennial Medical Centre, but also at the Consulting Rooms at the Portland Hospital.
We offer a range of consultations – both Face to Face in the consulting rooms, or remote – using a wide range of video access to help reduce the need to disrupt a child’s education or to avoid long journeys to clinics. The facility of offering a remote consultation is particularly useful in assessing children with neurodiverse conditions, for whom a trip to a strange clinic can be distressing as well as disruptive.
